Torrox Lighthouse

Map

This maritime traffic lighthouse on the coast of the township of Torrox was completed on May 1, 1864. It is automatic, electric, and turns on by a photoelectric cell.

It rises 39 meters above the sea and 26 meters above the ground.

It was built taking advantage of one of the towers of the old Lower Castle, destroyed by Napoleon's troops in the early nineteenth century.

Its enclosure contains the preserved remains of the Roman villa with numerous mosaics.
