The Delfín Shipwreck

Map

A few meters from the Calaceite beach cove is the wreck of the steamer Delfin. After decades under the sea, the ship has been colonized by a multitude of benthic species.

The steamship Delfin sank near the coast of Torrox, and is popularly known as "the rice ship" because it was carrying rice, flour, cod, and oil, hence the name of the Cove. At the end of January 1937 it was one of the last coastal vessels sent by the Republicans to supply food to the population of Malaga.
