Located at Pedregalejo Beach, the Astilleros Nereo shipyard was built in 1964 in a place full of history dedicated to the sea since its beginnings.
This is one of the oldest shipyards in Spain, devoted mainly to the craftsmanship of wooden boats.
From the mid-nineteenth century until the mid-twentieth century, its activities were aimed at safeguarding ships, cleaning their hulls or rebuilding them, giving rise to a commercial activity that would continue until our days with the current Nereo Shipyard.
The dissemination of the activity of carpentry and artisanal fishing in the Pedregalejo neighborhood in all its anthropological dimension is one of the main purposes of this Ecomuseum, and to keep alive the spirit of craftsmanship dedicated to seafaring activities in the area.
