Roman kilns

Related to the salted fish factory in the archaeological zone of the Torrox Lighthouse were two kilns that, although of different types, date back to the first century AD. Only the boiler beneath the kilns is preserved. These kilns manufactured the amphorae for packaging the salted fish produced here and transported all around the empire.

Although the two kilns are from the same period, they present a different typology and, therefore, a way of producing ceramic pieces of different shapes.

The location as well as their typology gives us an idea of where the "industrial" zone and the downtown of the old city of Caviclum were.

They are located at the entrance to the Ferrara promenade from Avenida del Faro.
