ECOLÓGICA Y MARINERA The Scallop Route

Estepona has a long tradition in traditional fishing.

It is also a front-runner in ecological sea and shellfish farming.

We invite you to join us on this immersion into the seafood culture and tradition, sailing into the sea from Estepona, so you can discover it beside the attentive, experienced eye of a marine guide.

We'll sail to the fishing grounds where there is a underwater farm of striped scallops, oysters, and bay scallops. The producer will show us first-hand what this ecological crop is like, how to differentiate them, their characteristics... We'll see how they move and "click". We'll also attend the harvest of "sailor's wine" and distinguish how the bottle transforms and evolves during the months it spends under water. We'll taste these delicacies along with an artisanal ecological wine from the Nilva winery, D.O. Sierras de Málaga, winner of an award for its project Let's Save the Manilva Vines.

We'll spot dolphins, and in summer, Flying Fish. During the journey we'll help out cleaning up the sea.

And if you'd like to continue the experience, you can sign up for the land-based version.
