Remains of Roman Tower

Map

In this enclave we can find informative panels with general information about the Historical Heritage of Estepona, especially about the sites from Roman times in the township and the most important ones in the province of Malaga.

The archaeological remains that we see here are the base of an octagonal tower from Roman times, which may have reached at least 12 meters in height.

This monument from the 4th century A.D., 1600 years ago, must have belonged to the owners of the nearby villa, and was abandoned 200 years later. Subsequently, its building materials were plundered at various times in history, when it was razed for the construction of the Muslim wall and then later, in the 20th century, for a decorative fountain.
